Here is a letter from one of our Scholarship recipients.
As one of the fortunate recipients of your 2006 Fraternal Order of Eagles scholarship award, I just wanted to, once again, let you know how much I appreciated your financial help and your confidence in me. I'm pleased to advise you that I graduated Cum Laude from Georgetown University in Washington, DC this past May, receiving my Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and History. Your scholarship not only assisted me with tuition and books, but it also helped me to avoid a rigorous work study program, which enabled me to participate in a multitude of activities that I, otherwise, would have missed. I became a coxswain on the Lightweight Women’s Crew team and an editor for The Georgetown Federalist newspaper. I also had the opportunity to give back to my college community by volunteering and organizing student groups to assist with placing Christmas wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery and washing and cleaning the Korean War Veterans Memorial.
Please advise your membership that I plan to study law at Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida later this month, where I hope to specialize in elder law. I will keep you informed of my progress. Thanks again for helping to make my education at Georgetown University a reality and a wonderful and memorable college experience.
Sincerely,
Erika J. Barger
